Challenge · Customers & sales

Our product is complex and hard to explain

The value has to be explained in a meeting, because the website describes the product instead of showing it.

Sound familiar?

  • A salesperson has to join before the customer understands what they get
  • The customer has to take our word for it
  • Two customer meetings look alike, because we start over each time

What this is about

The best thing about the product cannot be seen

A complex product means one where the buyer cannot work out for herself whether it fits her, unless somebody explains it. The value sits in a model, a data set or a calculation, and it cannot be shown on a slide. So meeting a salesperson becomes the precondition for her being able to judge it at all.

  1. Why the explanation falls short

A website can describe the product, but not show what it does to the buyer's own situation. A generic example does not answer the one question she is sitting with, which is why a better salesperson is rarely the answer.

  2. What it costs in sales

The buyers who never get in touch are ones you never hear from, so you do not know how many they are. If several people are in on the decision, the message stops with the one you managed to meet.

  3. When the price is the problem

The product may in fact be simple, while it is the price that gets negotiated. Then it is the price you need to explain rather than the product, and a clearer agreement helps more than a tool.

A taster is a tool where the buyer can try the product on her own case without being handed the model. It does not replace the advice, but moves the first part of the conversation to where the buyer is sitting.

Seen from the customer’s side

Your customers cannot see your systems. They can only feel how long it takes.

The safe route

How we start, without you committing to anything big

  1. Step 1

    Clarification meeting

A short conversation about where there is most to gain, and what it is worth. Free and without obligation.

  2. Step 2

    Digital pre-project

We map out what a buyer has to understand in order to say yes, and how much can be shown without giving the model away. You get a concrete recommendation with numbers behind it, and if it does not pay off, we say so. A fixed price that is offset against the first stage if you build on within 90 days.

  3. Step 3

    Development in stages

We build in stages at a fixed price and take whatever pays for itself fastest first. After that, operation and support from the people who know the solution.

You can stop after each step without the effort being wasted.

What the solution usually consists of

We decide exactly what is needed together

Exactly what it takes, we work out together in the pre-project. A challenge like this one we usually solve with one or more of these approaches.

  • Digital advice Strategic use of technology and support for your processes, so you get overview, control and better insight into your own data. It is part of most projects.
  • Self-service Giving customers or colleagues a portal or app where they find answers and act for themselves.
  • System development A system built around your own process, when no off-the-shelf product quite fits.
